After-Hours Call Group

Physician On-Call Responsibilities 

  • A voluntary on-call rota ensures 24/7 coverage for long-term care facilities. Participation is open to LTC Team Members and Team Leads. Compensation is provided per 24-hour shift. Rates vary on weekday, weekend, and statutory holiday shifts.  

Responsibilities Include: 

  • Responding to after-hours calls through the answering service for all facilities, including convalescent beds. 
  • Taking calls during office hours if the MRP or alternate is unavailable. 
  • Responding to calls within 30 minutes and, if required, arriving on-site within two hours. 

 

On-Call Process 

  • Coverage: Shifts are 24 hours, starting and ending at 8 AM. 
  • Abbotsford LTCI Answering Service: Provided by Personal Touch Telephone Answering Service. Tel: 604-357-5657. 

 

Shift Schedule and Swapping 

  • Schedule Access: On-call rota is available on the LTC Shift Calendar (also available in the WhatsApp LTC On-call Group) 
  • Shift Swapping: Use the LTC On Call WhatsApp group to request or trade shifts. 
  • First available member to respond gets the shift.
  • LTC Team will update the LTC On-call Calendar and confirm changes via WhatsApp.

Purpose: 

  • Simplifies communication for shift changes, reducing email volume.

Step 1: Access TeamUp

Step 2: Log In 

  • Open the app or visit the web version. 
  • Enter the calendar link provided by the Division to access the on-call rota. 

Step 3: View and Manage Shifts 

  • View Schedule: Navigate through the calendar to see upcoming on-call shifts. 
  • Shift Swapping: Coordinate shift changes via WhatsApp, and the updated schedule will reflect on TeamUp. 

Step 4: Notifications 

  • Enable notifications to stay updated on any changes to the schedule.
